Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the EPS PayMate AI mobile app and related services (collectively, the "Service"). Please read them carefully. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

The Service is operated by Michael Jeff Achumbre ("we", "us", "our").

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

Important — please read first

EPS PayMate AI is an independent third-party app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with the Korean government, the Ministry of Employment and Labor (고용노동부), HRD Korea, the Employment Permit System (EPS), or any official Korean labor service.

The "EPS" in our app name refers to the Employment Permit System workers the app is built for. It does NOT mean we represent or speak for that program, or that the program endorses us.

All calculations in the Service are estimates based on Korean labor law (Labor Standards Act). Your actual pay depends on your employment contract and company policies. Always verify with your employer or HR for official figures.

The Service does not provide legal advice. For pay disputes or labor issues, contact 1350 (the free, multilingual Korean government labor hotline) or consult a licensed labor attorney.

1. About the Service

EPS PayMate AI is a salary calculator and work-tracking app designed for foreign workers in South Korea, especially EPS workers on E-9 visas. The Service helps you:

  • Calculate your salary, overtime, deductions, and 주휴수당 (weekly holiday allowance).
  • Track work hours, budgets, and remittances.
  • Use AI features that analyze YOUR data: AI Assistant (chat about your pay), AI Payslip Compare (scan + compare to your logged hours), AI Monthly Story (narrative of your month), AI Goal Coach (advice on your goals).
  • Sync your data across devices (PRO feature).

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee the Service will always be available or error-free.

2. Important disclaimers — please read

2.1 Not financial, legal, or tax advice

EPS PayMate AI is a calculator and tracker. It is NOT:

  • Financial advice.
  • Legal advice.
  • Tax advice.
  • A substitute for your actual payslip from your employer.
  • A substitute for guidance from the Korean Ministry of Employment and Labor or labor lawyers.

The salary numbers we calculate are based on the information you enter and the formulas published by the Korean Ministry of Employment and Labor. Your actual payslip may include additional pay, additional deductions, or different calculations based on your specific employment contract, employer policies, or your personal situation.

If you have a labor dispute or believe you have been underpaid, contact the Korean labor hotline at 1350 (multilingual) or seek qualified legal advice.

2.2 AI features may make mistakes

The AI features (AI Assistant, AI Payslip Compare, AI Monthly Story, AI Goal Coach) are powered by OpenAI's GPT-4.1 mini model. AI can be wrong. AI does not understand the specifics of your individual contract, employer, or visa situation. AI features are scoped strictly to YOUR data — questions about general Korean labor law are redirected to official sources (Korean labor hotline 1350, moel.go.kr).

Always verify important information from AI with:

  • Your actual payslip (for salary numbers).
  • The Korean labor hotline 1350 (for labor rights questions).
  • Official government sources at moel.go.kr (Ministry of Employment and Labor).
  • A qualified labor lawyer or labor consultant for serious issues.

We are not responsible for actions you take based on AI responses.

2.3 Calculations may not reflect your real payslip

The Service calculates estimates based on your inputs and the official Korean labor formulas. Your real payslip is the authoritative document. If our calculation differs from your real payslip, your real payslip wins. If you believe your real payslip is wrong, contact your employer or the labor hotline 1350.

3. Your account

3.1 Account creation

You can use most features of the Service without creating an account (offline mode). To use cloud sync (PRO feature), you must create an account using either:

  • A valid email address and password.
  • Sign in with Google.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. The Service is intended for working adults.

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. We are not responsible for unauthorized access caused by you sharing your password or signing in on devices you do not control.

3.2 Account deletion

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account. Deletion is permanent and removes your data within 30 days. See the Privacy Policy for details.

4. Subscriptions (PRO)

4.1 What the free tier includes (always free)

  • Salary calculator, work log, deductions, 주휴수당 tracking
  • Calendar logging, hour entry, payslip math
  • Info hub (emergency contacts, official labor resources)
  • AI Assistant — 10 lifetime free chats (one-time, never resets)
  • AI Payslip Compare — 1 lifetime free scan (one-time, never resets). Payslip photos are NOT stored — they are sent to AI for reading only and discarded immediately after the comparison.
  • Deterministic "smart insights" (forecast, anomaly detection, monthly insight card)

4.2 What PRO includes

PRO unlocks the following features (subject to change with notice):

  • Cloud backup and sync across devices (work logs, goals, budgets, remittances)
  • PDF reports — generated on demand from a payslip scan, downloaded to your device. We do not store the PDF or the payslip photo.
  • AI Assistant — 200 chat messages per month, resets the 1st of each month
  • AI Payslip Compare — 5 payslip scans per month, resets the 1st of each month. Payslip photos are NOT stored.
  • AI Monthly Story — AI-narrated summary of your month
  • AI Goal Coach — AI advice on each of your goals from Budget Tracker
  • Ad-free experience
  • Remittance calculator
  • Budget tracker

We do NOT offer AI document translation. For generic translation, free tools such as ChatGPT, Google Translate, or Papago are available outside the Service.

4.3 Pricing and billing

  • Monthly: ₩4,900 / month
  • Yearly: ₩39,900 / year (~32% discount)

Prices are charged through Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android). Apple and Google handle the actual payment.

4.4 Auto-renewal

Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date. The renewal price will be charged to your Apple or Google account.

4.5 How to cancel

  • iOS: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → EPS PayMate AI → Cancel
  • Android: Google Play Store → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → EPS PayMate AI → Cancel

You can also reach the cancellation flow from inside the app: Settings → Subscription → Manage Subscription.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You keep PRO access until then.

4.6 Refunds

Refunds are handled by Apple and Google, not by us. To request a refund:

  • iOS: reportaproblem.apple.com
  • Android: play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions

We do not provide refunds outside of Apple's or Google's standard refund policies.

4.7 Price changes

We may change prices in the future. We will notify you in the app at least 30 days before any price increase takes effect on your subscription. You can cancel before the new price applies.

5. Acceptable use

You agree NOT to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose.
  • Submit false information or impersonate another person.
  • Try to bypass security measures or access other users' data.
  • Try to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the app.
  • Use the AI features to generate harmful, illegal, or abusive content (see Section 6).
  • Resell or redistribute the Service or any part of it.
  • Use the Service in a way that overloads our servers or interferes with other users.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these rules.

6. Prohibited content (CSAE)

We have ZERO tolerance for content that exploits, abuses, or sexualizes children. This includes Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) and any content that exploits or endangers minors.

Do not submit, generate, or share such content through any feature of the Service, including AI Assistant, AI Payslip Compare, AI Monthly Story, AI Goal Coach, or any future AI feature. We will report any such content to the appropriate authorities and terminate the offending account immediately.

If you encounter such content within the Service, report it using the in-app Report button on AI messages or email epspaymateai@gmail.com.

7. Intellectual property

7.1 Our content

The app, its design, text, graphics, code, and features are owned by us or our licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.

7.2 Your content

You keep ownership of the data you create in the app (work logs, budget entries, payslip photos, etc.). By using AI features, you grant us a limited license to process that data for the purpose of providing the AI feature you requested.

We do NOT use your data to train AI models. We do NOT sell your data.

7.3 Third-party AI

AI responses generated by OpenAI's models are subject to OpenAI's usage policies. AI-generated content has limited copyrightability under most jurisdictions; we make no guarantees about ownership or originality of AI output.

8. Service changes and discontinuation

We may add, change, or remove features at any time. We will try to notify you in advance of material changes when possible.

If we discontinue the Service, we will give you at least 30 days notice and let you export your data before shutdown. Subscriptions will be refunded on a pro-rata basis through Apple/Google.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law:

  • We are NOT liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages.
  • We are NOT liable for lost wages, lost profits, lost data, or business interruption.
  • We are NOT liable for actions you take based on calculations or AI responses from the Service.
  • Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations. In those cases, our liability is limited to the maximum extent allowed by law.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold us harmless from any claim, demand, or damages arising from:

  • Your violation of these Terms.
  • Your violation of any law or third-party right.
  • Your misuse of the Service.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or applicable law. You may stop using the Service at any time by deleting your account.

After termination:

  • Your right to use the Service ends immediately.
  • Sections that should reasonably survive termination (disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, governing law) will survive.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Republic of the Philippines, without regard to conflict of law rules.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in the courts of Republic of the Philippines.

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects changes. For material changes, we will notify you in the app at least 30 days before the changes take effect.

If you continue to use the Service after the changes take effect, you accept the new Terms. If you do not agree, you can stop using the Service and delete your account.

These Terms are provided in English. Translations to Korean, Filipino, Vietnamese, Thai, Burmese, and Sinhala are available in the app. The English version controls in case of any translation conflict.
